Over the years its welcomed a mix of writers, artist and musicians, to give it a cool atmosphere. The Las Dalias concert hall, at its centre, is now host to a regular hippy market which once saw the talents of Bob Marley and Mick Jagger.

One of the few traditional Ibizan villages is San Juan, with its mix of old and new bars dotted around cobbled streets and pathways surrounding its pretty church at the centre. There's a selection of restaurants as well as a supermarket with a fresh meat counter. You'll find this lovely rustic village is still home to many locals which gives it rustic charm and hippy culture. Amongst the thick countryside are hiking treks and mountain bike trails. Further north will take you to Portinatx with its small port, two sandy beaches - ideal for families with fun watersports on offer, or for the explorers there's a number of small quiet coves to stumble upon.
