If you want a holiday where the sun is hot and the tempo is chilled, try a villa holiday in Fuerteventura! This scenic island is the most laidback of the Canaries and a great place to really relax. Long, golden sandy beaches are famed for their watersports, with surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding galore. Away from the surf spots are pretty, traditional villages, whilst in the evening the many restaurants offer a wide range of dishes, as well as live music and entertainment to enjoy.
Days out in Fuerteventura
An island full of fantastic beaches, mountains to explore on a jeep safari, top golf courses at Caleta and watersports in most main resorts, there's something for everyone on a Fuerteventura villa holiday. Head to Baku waterpark during the summer for the kids to jump the waves, swim with sharks and be shipwrecked in the Santa Ana Galleon! Walk on the wild side at the Oasis animal park to see animal shows and tropical gardens. Or ride a camel into the hills, whilst enjoying fabulous views of the coast.
Beaches in Fuerteventura
Kick off your flipflops to relax on one of the 150 gorgeous beaches lining the island. Discover miles of sand dunes at Corralejo National Park, or windsurf at Sotavento lagoon. For a bucketful of family-fun, head for Costa Caleta to explore rockpools, snorkel in shallow water or have a bite to eat at one of the many waterside restaurants. Escape to nearby Los Lobos - an uninhabited island - to laze around the beach and take in the unspoilt views!
Nightlife in Fuerteventura
A great evening awaits in Corralejo, with plenty of waterfront restaurants, lively nightlife and entertainment on offer. Or head to Puerto del Rosario for traditional tapas bars, fish restaurants and exciting flamenco shows, or to practise your Salsa dance moves! Visit quiet village restaurants inland at Lajares to try local dishes such as sancocho de pescado - a delicious fish soup, or goat's cheese spread on crusty bread.
Tax-free shopping tempts many holidaymakers away from the beach. Shop 'til you drop in Puerto del Rosario with its Los Rotondos shopping mall, souvenir shops and backstreet boutiques. Or check out the craft centre at Tefia for traditional souvenirs, including handmade lace, pottery and banana leaf baskets! Barter for bargains at one of the many weekly street markets at Jandia or Caleta de Fuste. The El Campanario flea market at Corralejo is a must.
The fantastic resort of Caleta de Fuste is nicely set around an 18th century fortified tower and pleasure harbour. This favourite with families has a wonderful golden sandy beach perfect for watersports.
